Starbreeze Reveals A Payday Live-Action Series Is In Development

Payday is joining the ranks of video Game live-action adaptations, developer Starbreeze has revealed. The studio has partnered with Stockholm Syndrome to expand its popular IP beyond the gaming industry, and is gearing up to co-produce either a TV series or a feature film about the notorious Payday Gang. As part of the agreement, Los Angeles-based company Stockholm Syndrome will look for writers and directors to bring the latest idea to life. Seems like after the original Payday story is developed, the creators will decide whether it's best suited for a TV show or a full-fledged movie. After that, the company will look for a partner to distribute the project worldwide. Could it be Netflix, maybe? North American companies notch another record year for robots

North American companies struggling to hire workers in the tightest labor market in decades brought on more robot s last year than ever before, with many earmarked for new electric vehicle and battery factories under construction. Demand for robots appears to have slackened near the end of the year, though, raising questions about how strong 2023 will be in the face of shifting household consumption patterns and the rising interest rates engineered by central bankers to bring high inflation under control. Companies, overwhelmingly located in the United States but including some in Canada and Mexico, ordered just over 44,100 robot s in 2022, an 11% increase over the previous year and a new record , according to data compiled by the Association for Advancing Automation, an industry group also known as A3. The value of those machines totaled $2.38 billion, an 18% increase over the prior year, according to the data. The "labor shortage doesn't seem to be letting up," sai...

Nets, Lakers comprise four of the five biggest 'superteam' busts of the last decade

With Kyrie Irving getting traded to Dallas and Kevin Durant going to Phoenix, the superteam Brooklyn Nets are officially blown up. What a mess this whole Brooklyn era was. It inspired me to start thinking about the biggest superteam flops of the past decade. Here's what I came up with.  Brooklyn Nets (2019-23) When the Brooklyn Nets signed Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant in the summer of 2019, then added James Harden in 2021, they were immediately regarded as one of the most talented teams in History , and it was expected they would become one of the actual best teams in History .  Instead, they won a total of one playoff series in three years and were swept twice over that span, first by the Raptors in 2020, then by Boston last year. All told, the Nets went 7-13 in playoff games during the Durant-Irving era, and 7-9 with all three superstars on the roster.  Not that we saw much of Durant, Irving and Harden toge...

Lakers trade rumors: Russell Westbrook-D'Angelo Russell three-way deal being discussed with Timberwolves, Jazz

The Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timber wolves and Utah Jazz are discussing a three-team trade that would send Russell Westbrook and draft compensation to Utah and D'Angelo Russell to Los Angeles, according to Shams Charania and Tony Jones of The Athletic. Utah would receive at least one first-round pick, presumably from the Lakers, in order to make the deal.  According to Charania and Jones, the deal could also send Mike Conley from Utah to Minnesota. However, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Jazz are engaged in Conley talks with other teams. Jarred Vanderbilt and Malik Beasley could also potentially be in the deal, according to Charania, and the sides are currently discussing draft compensation and pick protections. The Lakers have been trying to trade Westbrook since the offseason, but have thus far failed to find a suitable deal. There were rumors in the offseason that they were close t...

NBA trade rumors: Kevin Durant unlikely to move this week, but he's still impacting Raptors' OG Anunoby market

With the NBA trade deadline (Thursday, 3 p.m. ET) drawing near, we all brace for the potential flurry of last-minute activity. This is when things can start getting crazy. Not that they already aren't pretty tipsy after the quick turnaround between Kyrie Irving's shotgun trade demand and subsequent shipping to Dallas. Brooklyn got back Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith and might not be done deal, and it might not be done dealing.  That's a good place to start with Tuesday's latest NBA trade rumor s.  Kevin Durant unlikely to be moved Unlikely to be moved before Thursday's deadline, that is. Whether he'll remain in Brooklyn after this year is another question entirely. ESPN's Zach Lowe spoke to both timelines on his podcast, The Lowe Post, with fellow Insider Brian Windhorst joining him.  "I've been saying since the James Harden trade, that it just feels like the inevi...

NBA Power Rankings: Bucks, Giannis steamroll to No. 1 as Kyrie Irving deal kicks off trade deadline chaos

Who says we have to wait until the trade deadline to have trades? The league and its fans were blasted with tweets and text messages on Sunday when the Brooklyn Nets dealt Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks, a move that pairs him with MVP candidate Luka Doncic to create one of the most formidable backcourts in the league. We've got grades , winners and losers and analysis , but that is likely just the first of many transactions as Thursday's trade deadline rapidly approaches. As for this week's NBA Power Ran kings , the trade doesn't really affect them because Irving and the rest of the players in the deal have yet to appear for their new teams, but we've tried to sprinkle some tasty trade deadline morsels into each team's entry. Down to business -- the Milwaukee Bucks aren't messing around, as their seven-game winning streak propelled them to the No. 1 spot this week, overtaking...
