3 states pass major gun control reform packages

Image
Leaders in Washington, Colorado and Maryland pushed forward legislative packages that created stricter rules for gun purchases. Governors in two states passed major gun control legislation this week and a third is poised to do the same soon. On Friday, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis signed the legislative package that included a longer waiting period for firearm sales, and an increase in the minimum age to purchase a gun. Colorado's move came three days after Washington state became the 10th state in the nation to ban assault rifles and handguns after Gov. Jay Inslee signed a gun reform package . Twitter restricts search function to registered users

As observed by many, Twitter no longer allows anyone to use the search option without logging in the app. Previously, if a user was not logged in, they could still use the search option and see some suggested tweets on the app's web version. However, the choice is no longer available. Even if a user has received a link with search results, they won't be able to access it without logging into the app. This move is similar to restricting free API. People frequently use Twitter to stay updated with current situations and conduct re search . Apart from that, Musk hinted at the return of Fleet on Twitter. Fleet is Twitter's version of stories where users post short messages or photos/videos that disappear after 24 hours. India will be most populous country by month's end, UN says

India will be the most populous country, eclipsing an aging China, by month's end NEW DELHI -- India will be the world’s most populous country by the end of this month , eclipsing an aging China, the United Nations said Monday. The milestone raises questions about whether India can repeat the economic success that has made China central to the world’s economy and a leading global power. The news comes at a moment when India is promoting itself as a rising international player as the host of this year’s Group of 20 summit. It’s also becoming a more attractive destination for multinational companies seeking to reduce their reliance on China. By the end of April, India’s population is expected to reach 1.425 billion, which means it will match and then surpass mainland China’s, the U.N.’s Department of Economic and Social Affairs said in a statement. The forecast is based on their latest estimates of global population. It's not clear exactly when India's population will pass

Peru's ex-president returned home to face corruption charges

Former President Alejandro Toledo has arrived in Lima after being extradited from the United States to face charges he allegedly received millions of dollars in bribes in a giant corruption scandal that has ensnared four of Peru’s ex-presidents LIMA, Peru -- Former President Alejandro Toledo arrived in Lima Sunday after being extradited from the United States to face charges he allegedly received millions of dollars in bribes in a giant corruption scandal that has ensnared four of Peru’s ex-presidents. Toledo, who was Peru’s president from 2001 to 2006, had surrendered to U.S. authorities on Friday, ending a yearslong legal battle against his extradition, which started in 2019 when he was arrested at his home in Menlo Park, California. Police and officials from Peru’s prosecutor’s office received Toledo, 77, at Lima’s airport early Sunday. Police released a photo of Toledo, looking disheveled, accompanied by agents. He was transferred to a court in Lima’s historic center. Peru's fo

Exclusive: Hyundai discuss possible F1 entry

Hyundai Motorsport Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul says the firm is considering a range of options as it weighs up whether or not to join Formula 1. Abiteboul joined Hyundai in January after having served as Team Principal of the Renault F1 team from 2017 to 2020, leaving the French outfit shortly before its rebrand to Alpine. The Frenchman also had a stint as team boss at the now-defunct Caterham F1 team, and his background fuelled speculation that his appointment at Hyundai was a prelude to the Korean manufacturer looking to join F1. Speaking exclusively to TheFOXposts.Com on the sidelines of the WRC Croatia Rally, Abiteboul did not explicitly rule out Hyundai joining F1, but stressed that the marque's current motorsport programme in WRC remains its priority, citing the now-established ties between Hyundai and rallying. "The [Hyundai Motor] Group is actively looking at different programmes right now," said Abiteboul. "Since 10 years ago, we are in the

Mikel Arteta admits he loves Arsenal 'more than ever' after Southampton slip-up

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has backed his side after their Premier League title hopes were dented with a 3-3 draw against Southampton on Friday evening. Some calamitous defending gifted Southampton two goals inside the opening 15 minutes, but Gabriel Martinelli responded soon after and it appeared to be just a matter of time before an equaliser and perhaps an eventual winner. The Saints, however, held firm and even headed a third through Duje Caleta-Car midway through the second half. While Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka both struck at the death to rescue a point, the result still comes as an enormous blow to Arsenal 's hopes of winning the Premier League title. Despite the disappointment, Arteta insisted the reaction from his players to falling behind has only made him more proud of their development.   "Obviously unhappy with the result," he told Sky Sports . "We made it very difficult again for ourselves but mistakes are part of football but the way we reacted

Why stock prices are rising and what experts say comes next

Stocks have rebounded even as recession worries loom. High inflation, interest rate hikes and recession worries pummeled stocks last year. The market has rebounded in 2023, though, even as each of those problems continues to vex the economy. Compounding those concerns, the banking sector underwent a crisis last month and a debt ceiling dispute in Congress risks financial distress. Still, the tech-heavy Nasdaq has climbed more than 15% this year, while the S &P 500 has jumped more than 7%. The Dow has ticked up about 2% since the outset of the year. The gains in recent months owe in part to the poor performance last year, since investors already responded to the grim economic conditions with a sell-off, stock analysts told ABC News. Investors flocked back to the market as inflation eased and rate hikes slowed, even if those market headwinds persist and the threat of a recession looms, they said. The rain made the whole world Ьewіɩdeгed: Thousands of extremely рoіѕoпoᴜѕ snakes feɩɩ from the sky (Video)

Image
For the first ᴛι̇ɱe in History , an ᴜпᴜѕᴜаɩ phenomenon has been observed and reported by the scientific community: snakes fаɩɩіпɡ from the sky. This Ьіzаггe occurrence has ѕtᴜппed experts, and has саᴜѕed a lot of ѕрeсᴜɩаtіoп and theories as to why it’s happening. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at this ѕtгапɡe phenomenon, exрɩoгe what scientists know so far, and discuss some possible explanations.   The phenomenon of snakes fаɩɩіпɡ from the sky is not entirely new. In fact, there have been reports of this happening as far back as the 17th century. However, these reports were often dіѕmіѕѕed as myths or exaggerations, and there was little scientific investigation into the matter. That all changed recently when a number of reports emerged from various parts of the world , indicating that snakes were indeed fаɩɩіпɡ from the sky. One of the most notable cases of snakes fаɩɩіпɡ from the sky occurred in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2017. A resident of the city reported findi

Biden signs executive order to improve access to child care

President Joe Biden has signed an executive order containing more than 50 directives to increase access to child care and improve the work life of caregivers WASHINGTON -- President Joe Biden has signed an executive order containing more than 50 directives to increase access to child care and improve the work life of caregivers, the White House said Tuesday. But the directives would be funded out of existing commitments, the White House said. That likely means their impact would carry more of a symbolic weight compared with the Democratic president's call in 2021 to provide more than $425 billion to expand child care, improve its affordability and boost wages for caregivers. Biden also has called for more money for the care economy in his 2024 budget plan, drawing a sharp line with Republicans, who are seeking limits on spending. Susan Rice, director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, told reporters on a phone call that the order shows that Biden isn't waiting on Con
