Espargaro insists Aprilia “is not good” in Argentina, despite MotoGP practice sweep

Image
Listen to this article Rio Hondo was the scene of Aprilia’s and Espargaro’s maiden MotoGP win 12 months ago, with both picking up where they left off on Friday this year. After Maverick Vinales was fastest in FP1 ahead of Espargaro, the latter led the second Aprilia 1-2 of the day in FP2 by 0.162s. Asked why the RS-GP is so good around Rio Honda, Espargaro couldn’t explain it as he doesn’t feel like the bike is actually good at the circuit. “I don’t know, I don’t understand,” Espargaro said. “I mean, the bike is not good here, sincerely. But I think it’s less bad than the other bikes. “But the bike is not good, in Portimao I felt 10 times better. The bike was grippy, turning, good on the brakes. “Here it’s like you are on ice all the time, sliding, sliding. It’s crazy. But it looks like the other bikes are even worse.” Both Aprilia riders showed good race pace on Friday after

Bagnaia: MotoGP riders need “clear idea” from stewards on penalties

Image
Listen to this article MotoGP stewarding has been under the spotlight this week following the crash between Marc Marquez and Miguel Oliveira in the Portuguese GP, and the resulting fallout over the penalty applied. Marquez was given a double long lap penalty for the incident, that initially looked like it would never be served as he was ruled out of the Argentina GP last Monday due to injury. The FIM stewards then altered the wording of its penalty statement, saying the punishment would be upheld at the next round Marquez attends – something Honda felt contravened the regulations and launched an appeal. Honda’s case will now be heard in the FIM Court of Appeals in Switzerland. This, as well as numerous incidents of inconsistency during the Portugal weekend have ignited the debate over the effectiveness of the current FIM stewards ’ panel. Ahead of this weekend’s Argentina GP, c

Real Madrid 1-0 Liverpool (Agg. 6-2): Player ratings as Los Blancos ease into Champions League quarters

Real Madrid finished the job they started at Anfield last month by securing a 1-0 win at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League . Los Blancos were the better side on the night and Karim Benzema’s 19th goal of the season in the closing stages added to the 5-2 aggregate lead they had built from the first leg. Liverpool needed to make a fast start to have any chance of the impossible and had the first clear chance only six minutes in when Mohamed Salah capitalised on a slip from Antonio Rudiger and fed the ball through to Darwin Nunez – his low shot was blocked by Thibaut Courtois’ feet. But a stark reminder of Real’s danger came moments later when, after a slick move, a better square pass from Toni Kroos would have given Benzema a tap-in. Kroos himself also went close in the early stage, smashing a left-footed drive that Liverpool were grateful was straight at Alisson. Los Blancos remained closest to breaking the deadlock when Alisson so

Kim Kardashian Said She Will Always “Take The High Road” When Co-Parenting With Kanye West

But for the sake of their children, Kim has always been determined to have a  Health y co-parenting relationship with Ye, having been inspired by her own parents, Kris Jenner and Robert Kardashian. Initially, this seemed to be going to plan, with Kim and Ye getting on so well after their split that she even wore a wedding dress onstage at his Donda listening party over the summer. But just weeks after this united front, cracks began to show between the former couple when Kim started dating Saturday Night Live comic Pet e Davidson in October. Homeless in RI: Fire hazards, $11M more, eviction in Pawtucket, DCYF on saving the children

3 Fires in 1 Week There were three fires involving homeless encampments in the greater Rhode Island area last week. One in Providence, off Union Street – cause as yet unknown, but fire officials noted that there were a lot of items behind a building and it was hard to get a water source to put it out. Thankfully no one was at the encampment. Another took place in New Bedford – and another in Brockton. One had to do with squatters in a building using a flammable source, thought to be propane. In that case, one person did receive burns, and another escaped unhurt. When the cleanup happened at the RI State House, more than one propane tank was found – left behind. Rhode Island has been fortunate in the small numbers of fires that have occurred, t

Venture capitalists race to land next AI deal on Big Tech's turf

In December and January, several venture capitalists from the US and Britain raced to Paris to vie for a stake in a new artificial intelligence company that could reshape how people work. The startup they courted, Dust, consisted of just two people. It had not been incorporated yet. And it rejected a generous proposal by top investment firm Coatue Management among other offers, three people familiar with the deal told Reuters. Sequoia Capital won, two of the people said, leading a sizable "seed" fundraising round of $5 million. Dust aims to build AI tools that improve white-collar workers' productivity. Alphabet Inc and Microsoft Corp's rapid push on AI and the billions of dollars they are spending to gain an edge have heightened competition in Silicon Valley. Startups in the space are pulling in offers from investors to take on their Big Tech peers and are closing deals in several days instead of weeks. It is a bright spot for an otherwise slow venture-capital m

Taylor Swift Is Donating to Food Banks on The Eras Tour Route

Image
Taylor Swift  isn’t just taking her show on the road for The Eras Tour, she’s also doing some major good along the way. It was reported on Monday (March 20) that the superstar had made a sizable donation to the Arizona Food Bank Network ahead of taking the stage in Glendale, Ariz. — temporarily renamed Swift City in her honor — for the H๏τly anticipated start of The Eras Tour. Swift herself didn’t publicize the donation. Instead, the food bank shared its reaction to the act of kindness with local media outlet AZ Central. “It’s not every day that you get a call from someone who works for Taylor Swift , so we were dubious at first, but happily, it turned out to be absolutely real,” vice president of external relations Terri Shoemaker told the publication. The nonprofit exec added that she was told in the conversation that Swift planned to focus on leaving a “positive impact” on each stop along her U.S. tour route, and on Wednesday (March 22), Three Square — a food bank based

Julius Randle continues All-NBA case with career-high 57 points, but Knicks fall to Timberwolves

Image
The Minnesota Timberwolves' thrilling 140-134 win over the New York Knicks on Monday night was one of the best showcases we've seen all season for the league's incredible depth of talent these days. Two teams not known for their offense -- though the Knicks are better than they get credit for -- combined for 274 points in regulation and shot a combined 99-of-168 from the field.  Fifty-seven of those points were scored by Julius Randle, who set a career-high in scoring and now owns the third-highest scoring performance in Knicks franchise history. Only Carmelo Anthony (62 points) and Bernard King (60 points) have scored more. Furthermore, Randle also now owns the fifth-best scoring performance of any player at Madison Square Garden, behind Anthony (62), Kobe Bryant (61), James Harden (61) and King (60).  Randle hit eight 3-pointers to tie a career -high in that category, sunk several tough mid-range jum

TF2 Fans Create A Website To Track The Big Slappy Bans

Who has been lying about big butts? Saying they don't like 'em? Well, it seems Team Fortress 2's big butt keeps on getting banned for some reason. In fact, the famously cakey character known as Big Slappy has now been banned and u NBA nned more than a dozen times. It's hard to keep track of just how many times the meme-famous character mod has been sanctioned. But, handily, there is a website that's been created with the specific purpose of keeping track of whether Big Slappy is banned or not. Highlighted by 'heavy team fortres 2' on Twitter, the website will be a neat guide for those tracking this ongoing saga. Related: Valve's 61GB Leak Should Worry Us Big Slappy first appeared as a meme way back in 2008, and eventually became a downloadable item on the TF2 Steam Workshop courtesy of one Coolchou Zhao. However, the Big Slappy mod was banned earlier this month for "violations of Steam's community and content guidelines".

Rhode Island based Coboaters connects boating community in North America, Caribbean

Image
In early 2022, a RI entrepreneur and sailor launched a new service to help people sail more and better. This startup now celebrates its second year and launches new features. A common problem for many boat owners and crew: Meeting, Connecting And Communicating Many people like sailing and want to sail more. Ironically, both crewmembers, captains and skippers rely on each other for a successful outing on the water but for both connecting with one another can be a difficult task. Boat owners often need crewmembers who can help them operate their boat, either for pleasure or to enter a race. It is not easy to find the right crew at the right time and a lot of boat owners do not use their boat as much as they could because of lack of crew. Similarly, there are multitudes of crewmembers looking to connect with skippers with whom they can gain experience. Due to difficulties finding and connect ing with one another, crewmembers often find themselves having to rent a b

Trump returns to Facebook

Former US President Donald Trump posted to Facebook on Friday, marking his return to the social media platform two years after he was banned. Meta Platforms, which owns Facebook and Instagram, announced on Jan. 25 that it would reinstate Trump's access to his accounts, saying the public should be allowed to hear from politicians, but that Trump would be subject to "heightened penalties" for repeated violations of its rules. The former president was suspended for praising rioters who stormed the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Despite Trump's reinstatement, it had been unclear whether he would post on the accounts. Facebook and Instagram are key vehicles for reaching voters and fundraising and could give a boost to Trump, who will make another run for the presidency in 2024. Trump had 23 million followers on Instagram and 34 million on Facebook as of Feb. 9. Trump's campaign spokesman told Fox News Digital in January that being back on Facebook "will be an

Shakira seen ‘crying’ in New York M&M’s store after first live performance of diss track amid bitter Pique split

Image
SHAKIRA appeared to burst into tears at New York’s M&M store after her first live performance of her scathing diss track . The Colombian popstar’s hit track has multiple blistering references to her ex, Gerard Pique, following their bitter split. Last Friday the Hips Don’t Lie singer, 46, belted out her diss track Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 in a racy leather outfit on The Tonight Show. Since her performance on the show in New York, the singing sensation has been spending time in the city. But while she was all smiles as she sang her new song, she was this week spotted appearing to cry as she chatted to a woman. Shakira, wearing a baseball cap and a black top, took her sons who she shares with ex Pique – Milan, 10, and eight-year-old Sasha – to the M&M stores in Times Square. While her sons eyed up the vast chocolate offerings, Shakira’s mood seemed not so sweet as covered her face. She appeared to cry and look shocked as she spoke to an unidentified
